We Bring People Together
We bring hope. We encourage civic engagement. We are defenders of democracy. We cultivate community building. Community organizing. Movement building. Empowerment. Voter education. Advocacy.
In 2025-2026 we have prioritized Eaton County in our work plan. In June 2025, we launched the Eaton County Outreach Plan in partnership with the League of Women Voters of the Lansing Area. Both are nonpartisan organizations that focus on community welfare.
We are excited to build relationships in the rural communities of Vermontville, Charlotte and Eaton Rapids. We will continue to host community engagement events in 2025 and 2026. We began in July and August 2025 with Community Care Drives in each community. The drives serve as an opportunity to build community partnerships and have conversations with individuals who show up. Everyone was encouraged to join the Community Chat and complimentary lunch the following week. The community chats served as an opportunity for community members to learn about the work that Michigan Country and the League of Women Voters have done and what they can do. We loved the opportunity to hear from the community members - we discussed what is going well in each community and discovered some gaps!
All items and donations collected through the Care Drives were donated to SIREN/Eaton Shelter, Inc for distribution in the local community.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. The Lansing area League serves the people of Eaton, Ingham and Clinton counties.
Our work plans continue to support other rural Michigan Communities. We are cohosting the Seasons to the U.P. Foraging with a Side of Civics series. This series of three events over the summer of 2025 meet people where they are at by providing an engaging foraging classroom and field event while also providing a small serving of civic education. Civics topics covered included the Revenue Estimating Conference, the Board of State Canvassers, the importance to our democracy of competition in local races and information about local elections.
We continue work in the rural communities in the following counties: Barry, Eaton, Clinton, Ingham, Cheboygan, Mackinac and Chippewa counties with a goal of being informed voters.

ELECTION EDUCATION ACROSS MICHIGAN
CALLING ALL DEMOCRACY DEFENDERS
Want the Anatomy of an Election Roadshow to make a stop in your community?
Join us to proactively arm community members across the state with the knowledge and vocabulary to have important conversations in their communities and to defend the security of our elections. We will inoculate individuals against the mistruths, misinformation and disinformation plaguing our communities. We will empower election advocates to elevate truths and confidence in our democratic processes.
With deep roots in rural Michigan culture, we host Anatomy of an Election Roadshow. The program, delivered across 6 communities in 2022 focuses on the internal mechanisms that secure our elections that are under attack in rural areas today. Hence, the words “Anatomy of An Election!” The program has been held in high regard among election officials in Michigan and with rural partners across the country. Especially of note is that the program was designed to be relevant to everyday voters with attendees welcomed in a way that provided a safe space for a wide range of questions and beliefs. It is important that everyone in the room feels respected and that each of their questions is responded to with careful explanation of the process or processes that are in place to keep our votes secure.
